    Buying Property in Instalments

    Ufuoma Onakpoyan

By Ufuoma OnakpoyanAsaba & Abuja Real Estate Agent

We accept instalment payments, case by case. The buyer and the seller agree the dates and the price in a business discussion, and it is written into a contract that both of them sign.

    Case by case

Agreed for each property, not a standard plan.

    In a contract

Dates and price written into a contract both sides sign.

    Paper trail

Acknowledgement letter, receipt and contract of sale after the first payment.

    Currencies

    Naira or major foreign currencies.

    How it works

Tell us which property you want and how you would like to pay. We take it to the seller; the payment dates and the price are agreed in a business discussion, then written into the contract. Because every seller and property is different, we do not publish a standard deposit, period or percentage.

Anything else, such as what happens to a deposit, when the keys and title documents are handed over, and any penalties, is up for discussion and set out in the contract.

    Where the money goes

Every payment goes to the owner of the property, into the business account named in the contract, never a personal account. After the first payment you receive an acknowledgement letter, a receipt and the contract of sale. We receive naira and major foreign currencies.
